My Favorite Christian Podcasts

Whether riding the bus, walking on the treadmill, or doing housework, most of us have a few hours each week in which our brains are less than active.  Instead of just letting my thoughts wander, I like to plug in my headphones and listen to a few podcasts.  That’s why, this week, I’m featuring a few of my favorites in the hope that you’ll find them enjoyable as well!

Viewpoint on Mormonism  Produced by Mormonism Research Ministry (MRM), this podcast takes a 15 minute daily look at LDS teachings from a Christian perspective.  From analysis of current conference talks and “Ensign” articles to dialogue about the teachings of the prophets of the church, this podcast is sure to help you learn to better share your faith with LDS friends and family.

Persecution Podcast  In just a few minutes every week, Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) will bring you up to date on the latest persecution news from around the world.  Listen to the courageous stories of Christians in countries where the public expression of faith is not legal and learn how to better pray for both the persecuted and the persecutors.

Let My People Think  Ravi Zacharias has long been one of my favorite writers and speakers, so the opportunity to hear him preach each week is a genuine delight.  Listen as he and others from Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) share about the relationship between Scripture, ethics, philosophy, and current events.  These messages are sure to speak to your heart.

Messianic Jewish Teachings: David Levine  If you’ve ever had the time to study Jewish history and culture, you’ve likely realized that a bit of context can go a long way towards adding to the richness of Scripture.  Each week, Rabbi Levine takes Christians on a distinctly Jewish journey through the Scriptures – helping us to see and understand them the way that the early (mostly Jewish) Christian church would have.  You’re sure to be both inspired and encouraged!

Stand to Reason  Instead of a single podcast, this is a family of programs dedicated to helping believers better defend their faith.  My favorites are the weekly video blog (a five minute apologetic tip) and the Please Convince Me podcast in which cold case detective and former atheist J. Warner Wallace examines the evidence in favor of the Christian world view.

There are, of course, many other great Christian podcasts available, but these five are the gems that I never miss.  Take a few minutes to listen to them and see if you don’t agree.  And, if you have a favorite or two of your own, please feel free to share them in the comment box below!

Wellspring International

The humanitarian arm of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM), Wellspring International is committed to bringing rescue, rehabilitation, and restoration to abused women and children around the world.  From projects like Agni Raksha, providing restorative surgery for victims of the brutal practice of bride burning in Bangalore, India to Scarlet Cord which offers financial assistance, counseling, and job placement services to the victims of the Netherlands’ legal prostitution industry, Wellspring is making a difference in the lives of the most forgotten individuals.  And you can too!

Take a moment to visit their Projects page and find out more about the ministries with which you can be involved.  Choose to play a part in providing education to impoverished children through Zamar Academy in Channai, India or play a role in the Food Coupon Program providing sustenance to Iraqi refugees.  Then visit MyWellspring where you can join or create a campaign to help raise both funding and awareness.  Whatever you do, commit to making a difference
