As believers, one of our most important charges is to share the Gospel (Matthew 18:28-29), but this isn’t always easy.  Our days are packed with “must-do” tasks and even when we find the time to share, knowing what to share can sometimes leave us stumped.  That’s where the Pocket Testament League can help!

Since 1893, they’ve been asking Christians to dedicate a pocket of their shirt, jacket, purse, or briefcase to the Lord.  Each morning, members are challenged to slip a copy of the Gospel of John into that pocket, then prayerfully seek an opportunity to share it during the day.

But they don’t leave members hanging there.  Through Evangelism Boot Camp, a seven lesson series, they help “carriers” learn how to effectively share the message of this Gospel. Using Scripture readings, real life stories, and easy challenges, members are walked step-by-step through everything from easy evangelism encounters to deeper dialogues.  Take a look at Sharing Tips to get comfortable with the booklets, then explore 92 Ways to Share for some great ideas to get you started.

Check out the “Carry” page where you’ll find all 81 of the uniquely designed evangelism-oriented gospels.  Designed to reach targeted audiences, you’ll find copies of John for everyone from women and athletes to teens and first responders – each providing a bridge between ordinary dialogue and an extraordinary message.  And don’t worry if finances are an issue!  Through PTL’s Sponsorship Program, gospels are provided free of charge to those who have the passion to share.

If you aren’t sure just how effective the words of a single Gospel account can be, why not take the 21 Day Challenge – a chapter of John a day.  You may be surprised at how God moves within your own life.  And you’re likely to gain the confidence you need to share more effectively with others!

Want something a little more interactive?  Take a look at Five Reasons to Read the Bible, then start a Scripture Journal and share your evangelism and discipleship adventures with other members of the PTL community.  You’re sure to be uplifted and encouraged.

So what’s holding you back?  Visit the PTL website to read some of the stories of those responsible for distributing the over 10 million copies of John which have been freely given away throughout the course of the League’s history.  Then, take a look at the membership page to see if participation is for you!  It’s FREE to join and it might just give you the push you need to start fulfilling Jesus’ most important commission!
